From Hostelbookers to Aretusa Vacanze:
My goodness! What didn't I LOVE about this hotel? The location was spot on perfect - right in the centre of the truly beautiful old town and down a cobbled side street next door to a fabulous little restaurant. The decor was gorgeous - I had to tear myself away from the room each morning. It was more like a home than a hotel room. The staff were really friendly (great with directions and full of local knowledge like which were the best places to visit), the roof terrace had amazing views and the breakfast (which was included in the ridiculously cheap price) arrived promptly each morning, was fresh and had tons of options to choose from. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Siracusa then take my word for it - this is THE place. Gorgeous from start to finish. If I ever visit Siracusa again (and I would because it is one of the most beautiful places I have visited) then I would definitely stay here again. An absolute delight. We booked this place purely on the price and without knowing what it looked like. How lucky we were.
The hostel is located right by the Fonte Arethusa, which is one of the most beautiful areas in Siracusa. In addition, we stayed in the "sconto" (discounted) room, which included a small kitchen, private bathroom, kitchen table and chairs, a small couch, and then upstairs was our bed and the TV. It was the best value for my money. I absolutely loved this B&B. Also, they bring you breakfast in your room and you can also eat it from the rooftop terrace. + Most pleasant surprise during our whole holiday (we stayed in very many hotels in South-Italy and Sicily) - most romantic and beautiful part of Siracusa, sea just nearby, old building, powerful atmosphere. The room was more like a tiny flat with a kitchen and with a bed upstairs. The reception lady was a very lovely person and most helpful. At night we could drink some wine on the roof terrace. Definitely the place we would recommend to our friends and if we came back to this town, we would stay in Aretusa again ourselves. And last, but not least - the price was very good. + Excellent location in smack center of Syracuse Ortigia old city (1 min from Fountains, 3 min from Duomo). The room was spacious with kichenette (incl. cooking utensils & dishes), modern interior design, and comfortable settings. The family-run staff was very helpful, kind and pleasant, in addition to being very photo-genic, and would do well in a TV mini-series. We stayed for a night only, but was tempted to stay longer to more leisurely enjoy the beautiful city, and to cook dinner with fresh seafood from the Markets (12 min away) which has amazing variety of appetizing maritime produce. If you are looking for a special place to stay, this is your lucky day.
Aretusa Vacanze is a refurbished old building with only 9 tastefully decorated rooms.
Our room was simply beautiful and we also had a kitchen and a lovely bed.
Breakfast is served on the terrace
and there is a wide choice of bits to have a really enjoyable breakfast!
The B&B couldn't be in a better location right in the centre of the old town
within seconds of bars and restaurants, not to mention the sea. A very romantic spot.
Don't forget to try Osteria Mariano, the restaurant next door
which is delish and where the locals eat.
There is a lovely roof terrace too.
The staff at the B&B were also charming and there whenever you needed them.
This was the best place we stayed in the hole of Sicily and defintely would like to go back there again!

Abbiamo prenotato il bilocale e ci siamo trovato molto bene.
Le camere sono ben pulite ed accoglienti, personale molto premuroso e gentile.
All'interno della struttura e' presente un terrazzino con vista su tutta Oritigia
dove e' possibile fare colazione, altrimenti il servizio viene effettuato direttamente in camera.
La posizione è strategica per visitare Ortigia e Siracusa.
Lo consiglio vivamente.

Questo posto è stato una fantastica scoperta. La posizione è perfetta (proprio nel cuore della città vecchia), la camera era confortevole e autosufficiente, il personale era cordiale e disponibile e la colazione veniva servita in camera al mattino. Abbiamo pagato 45 sterline a notte con lastminute.com, davvero un ottimo affare. Siracusa è bellissima e vale la pena visitarla per diversi giorni, soprattutto la piazza principale con la Cattedrale e le rovine greco romane appena fuori dalla città.

Un fantastico B&B a Ortigia. La posizione è adorabile (anche se è difficile da trovare). La colazione era meravigliosa e veniva servita in camera. La terrazza sul tetto era un posto fantastico per rilassarsi e bere un bicchiere di vino. Forniscono utensili e piatti per farti i tuoi antipasti! Il personale era cordiale.

Un luogo incantevole nel cuore pulsante della splendida isola di Ortigia. Ho soggiornato per tre fantastici giorni ed ho potuto apprezzare, oltre alla cura per i particolari, la gentilezza dei proprietari, esempio perfetto della tipica accoglienza siciliana.
Un posto che consiglio vivamente a chi voglia visitare la più bella, a mio parere, città della costa orientale della Sicilia.

Non fatevi spaventare dalla strada da incubo, o dal sistema a senso unico e dalle strade impossibili di Ortigia. Questo posto è davvero una preziosità. Lo staff è sereno, pulito, le camere sono molto tranquille. Davvero un hotel splendido

On arrival my husband and I were upgraded to a two bedroom apartment, which was very spacious, spotlessly clean, prettily decorated and great value at approximately £40 per night. The staff were really friendly, giving us a map and taking time to point out all the places we should visit and suggesting a few restaurants.
Although there is no view (there is another building directly across the alley) you are only a minute's walk away from the sea and a few minutes away from shops and attractions. There is a roof terrace if you fancy catching some sun (although it was a bit too breezy in March). Ortygia itself is a great place to spend a few days. If I return I would most definitely stay in the Aretusa Vacanze again.
